Where it started

Business Behind Stocks was born from a simple frustration: every stock market course in India taught how to trade — none taught how to think.

Gaurav, an ICAI-trained analyst with five years of deep-dive research across sectors, saw thousands of retail investors losing money not because markets are unfair, but because they were never taught the fundamentals that professionals take for granted.

The idea was radical in its simplicity — teach retail investors to read a business the way a CA would, value a stock the way a fund manager would, and build a portfolio the way an institution would. No tips, no shortcuts, no noise.

What started as a few WhatsApp study groups grew into structured courses, a scholarship program for college students, and eventually a platform that has trained over 12,000 students across India.

2019
First WhatsApp study group
Gaurav begins sharing weekly fundamental analyses with a small group of friends. The demand for proper explanation — not tips — becomes immediately clear.
2020
First structured course goes live
Fundamentals of Stocks launches. The course sells out in its first week. Students consistently report it is unlike anything else in India — real analysis, no noise.
2021–22
Curriculum expands to 4 courses
How to Read a Business, How to Value a Stock, and How to Build a Portfolio launch. BBS becomes a full learning path from foundations to portfolio mastery.
2023
Scholarship program launches
Students who can't afford courses can earn up to 100% off by taking a merit quiz. The belief: the best investors should not be kept out by price.
2024–25
12,000+ students and counting
BBS now reaches students across every state in India. The blog publishes deep-dive company analyses. The platform continues to grow — word of mouth only.
